Upcoming events:
1. Notice of Annual General Meetings for Whitehorse Rapids Speed Skating Club and Yukon Amateur Speed Skating Association:
Date: Sunday May 25, 2008
Time: WRSSC AGM at 4pm, YASSA AGM at 4:30pm
Location: Wolf Creek Campground.
What’s happening: Summaries of activities (including financial) for both organizations will be presented, plans for the future, election of executive for the upcoming season, and a name change for YASSA will be proposed. Also there will be a treasure hunt or orienteering course to challenge the younger members while the meeting is going on. Following the meetings we will have a BBQ and potluck picnic. Terice will likely be in touch about the details later.
2. Fundraising litter pick ups – We have two again this year. These are a great opportunity for our skaters to help raise some of the much needed funds to help keep our sport going.
· The first is on Lewes Blvd. We will meet on Monday May 12 at 6:30pm at the Child Development Centre/Department of Education parking lot.
· The second is on the Alaska Highway south. We will meet at 9:30am on Saturday May 24. I’ll let you know the exact location when I learn where our assigned area is in more detail.
